Scientific approach using a cooperative model of Newton's law material to improve students' cognitive abilities

        Abstract

        This study aims to determine the improvement of students' cognitive abilities in Newton's Law material taught by applying a scientific approach. This type of research is a one-group pretest-posttest, with 21 students as the research sample. The data of this study were collected through test and non-test instruments, the test instruments were in the form of diagnostic tests, initial tests and final tests, while the non-test instruments were in the form of student worksheets (LKPD). The results of the study showed that the initial ability, 100% of students were in the failing qualification with an average score of 66. The results of the analysis during the learning process showed that the average score of students was 83.96 in the good qualification. The average score of students' final test achievement reached 85.99 with a good qualification. For the results of the N-Gain Test, the average score of students was 0.45 in the moderate qualification. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of a scientific approach with a cooperative model can improve students' cognitive abilities in Newton's Law material for class X of SMA Kristen Tual well.
